History of Parish
The parish of St Seraphim's was formed 20th March 1950. Services were conducted by Fr Alexey Godyaew at St Luke's Anglican Church. Nikolai Alelekov Svetlov then donated a house where the church now stands.
When Fr Alexey Godyaew was transfered to New Zealand then Archimandrite Methody Shlemin served as the rector for the parish. Archimandrite Methody Shlemin asked to leave the parish due to ill health and at about the same time Fr Nicholas Uspensky arrived in Brisbane from London.
23rd November 1952 saw the completion of the renovation of the donated house into a church with a small cupola on the roof.
In 1964 Metropolitan Philaret transfered Fr Uspensky to St Nicholas's Catheral as a curater due to his ill health and appointed Fr Gregory Malisheff at rector of St Seraphim's.
Valentine Vyacheslavovich Treifeldt was ordained as a deacon on 27th August 1967 and served in the parish for some time.
In December 1971, Fr Gregory Malisheff left the parish to form a new parish at Park Road.
On 28th March 1972, Fr Peter Semovskih who had been a deacon at the church from 1964 to 1966, was appointed to the parish. New renovations at the church began at that time as well.
Fr Peter Semovskih left the parish in 2007 when the unification of the Russian Church with Russia took place.
On April 29th 2007, Fr Gavreil was appointed to the parish.
